A day of celebration: San Isidro 2009

6:00 am
got up and went out for marketing

For afternoon Merienda
1 K Mantikilya
2 bottles Patis
3 K Patatas
1 K Carrots
1 K Repolyo
1 K Hotdog
1 K Sibuyas
½ K Bawang
2 boxes (big) Chicken Cubes
6 K Manok – pecho
1 K Manok-atay/balunan
10 K Elbow Macaroni
9 Cans (big) Evaporated Milk
2 Packs Iodized Salt
Black Pepper

For morning Merienda
2 K Gelatin-colorless
2 Packs Calamansi Puree

For the "Palaro"
12 Pcks Assorted candies
5 Pcs Native Palayok
½ K Cornstarch
800 Peso coins To be put inside the palayoks
1 roll Plastic straw

For the “Paagaw”
2,000 Pesos 100 pcs P20 bills for the water bombs
1 Pck Plastic bag (ice candy-size)
1 Pck Plastic bag (ice bag size)
1 Balikbayan box Assorted toys


7:30 am
kuya Emer hauled and dressed 2 ducks for “pulutan”



8:30 am
Joana and Gilbert started decorating the “kubol”
Manolo and Gildo went out to get more “palaspas”

9:00 am
visited ate Marie and checked the 6 salop of “pinaltok” for the additional afternoon merienda


9:30 am
sautéed dressed/chopped duck and slow cook until tender
10:00 am
Julie and Debbie had the water bombs ready
10:30 am
Fetched some water and set the terrace for the afternoon’s paagaw.
12:00 noon
“Kubol”, “paagaw”, and “pulutan” readied.





1:00 pm
Neigbhorhood ladies started preparing the “sopas” ingridients
2:00 pm
Philes and Ines begun cooking the “sopas”
3:00 pm
Aling Pina started the “Nobena alay sa Patron ng San Isidro”


4:00 pm
Mentong lighted up the “kwitis”, cue for the afternoon merienda
4:15 pm
everyone lined up for the “sopas at tinapay/pinaltok at suman”mierienda





4:30 pm
Rolly started the traditional “hampas palayok” palaro
6:15 pm
The last palayok was hit and the last scramble for the “paagaw” was delightedly enjoyed by all.
6:30 pm
neibhorhood cleaned and tidied the street for the “barikan”
6:45 pm
Lambanog and “pulutan” was finally served in the street barikan/party
9:30 pm
Lights out. And the San Isidro 2009 celebration was finally over
